There are cruise lines for virtually every demographic, and many of them have certain things to suit their guest's special tastes. A popular choice for retirees and elderly is the all inclusive senior citizen cruise. This is a great way for someone who has just retired or who has not taken a vacation in a long time to be able to enjoy themselves in a new way, and senior citizen cruises are offered in locations all over the world. In this article, will take a quick look at some of the features you can expect to see aboard one of these cruises, and the way they differ from a standard cruise liner. Need more help? Check out our helpful All Inclusive Cruises page.

While this cruise is not the snooze-fest it might sound like, it does cater to the needs of more elderly citizens by having extra staff to help guests more easily move around, additional menu options, and other special accommodations for the elderly. A senior citizen cruise has many of the traditional types of entertainment and relaxation that standard cruise liners have, such as swimming pools, casinos, lounges, and live entertainment, but there are more staff members trained to work with elderly people in order to make their stay more comfortable. There is twenty-four hour room service that can also help guests with chores that might be physically difficult, and there are staff members to help disabled or physically impaired guests move around more easily.

Most major cruise lines have cabins and stateroom that are designed and equipped for passengers with special needs. Such special needs include but are not limited to wheel-chair accessibility, hearing-impaired, oxygen, cognitive disabilities and dialysis. Each cruise line has differing levels of support and not all itineraries and shipped are equipped for special needs. Go to the cruise lines' web sites for further information. Here is yet another example of why you should only deal on a direct basis. Senior citizen cruise liners are also equipped with extra facilities, such as an expanded medical bay and a greater level of safety, to help keep guests both comfortable and healthy while they are on board. Meals are of the same gourmet quality that one would expect from a luxury cruise liner, but they are made with ingredients that promote health in elderly people.

When it comes down to it, there are very few differences between a senior citizen cruise and that a younger person might take. The main differences are that there are some slight tweaks so that the retired and elderly will enjoy themselves more. This combined with the fact that they will have more people of their own age with whom to interact, make for a more relaxing (and potentially romantic) getaway that can really change their life. Cruise lines that frequently offer senior citizen cruises include Crystal, Seabourn, Orient, and Holland America. Give a gift to an elderly love one in the form of a senior citizen cruise.
