If one person in your cabin is 55 years old or older, you may qualify for Senior Citizen Cruise rates. This can be particularly attractive when traveling with a multi-generational family. Every person would get the senior discounted rate.

With 30% market share, Carnival is the overwhelming favorite among seniors. Over 1 million guests are expected for the 2007 season.  Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, Costa and Norwegian Cruise Line also offer reduced rates or additional amenities for seniors on select voyages. Usually these rates are $50-$100 per person lower than the normal rates. Significant discounts are available during the off-peak season - late September though December. If you plan to take children, and especially grandchildren, be sure to check out the many Disney cruise specials.

As always, a little research can save you as much as 50% off standard fares. Plan ahead, book early and you may be better off with "early bird" packages.
